A Historic Journey
Initially emerging as a pop-up in Miami in 2012, Broken Shaker has expanded to brick-and-mortar locations within Freehands in Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City. Now reinvigorated under the leadership of Authentic Hospitality partners Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte, and Matthew Charles—renowned for their exceptional nightlife venues—the team endeavors to resurrect Broken Shaker as a cherished icon of the Miami nightlife scene. “Broken Shaker has been a beloved space for both locals and tourists, particularly in Miami Beach where it has redefined the spirit of our nightlife,” states Alastair Thomann, CEO of Generator & Freehand Hotels. “We’re excited to collaborate with Authentic to extend Broken Shaker’s legacy into a vibrant future.”
A Refreshing Beverage and Culinary Program
With a revitalized beverage program, Broken Shaker emphasizes approachable and classic cocktails, featuring creations like the La Bamba Colada—a twist on the traditional pina colada with tequila—and the Breakfast in the Moonlight, a passionfruit-infused variation of a zombie. Leading the refreshed culinary scene are longtime Authentic partners and Michelin-Starred chefs, Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske Valtierra. Their innovative approach introduces poolside delights such as skewers, tacos, ceviche, and luscious homemade ice cream sandwiches.
