TFE Inns’ Travelodge Resort Darwin has served as a five-storey clean canvas for Australian artist, Adnate’s newest creation as a part of the Darwin Road Artwork Competition (DSAF).
In lower than six days – working in 33.7 °C warmth and 90% humidity – Adnate created two giant scale artworks on the lodge’s exterior wall in tribute to the native Larrakia mob.
“The kids featured in Travelodge mural are each from the Fejo household – they’re Larrakia folks and are the Conventional Homeowners of Garramilla (Darwin), which sits upon Larrakia Land,” stated DSAF Director, David Collins.
“Each Adnate and the staff from Darwin Road Artwork Competition consulted with the Fejo Household and their Elders previous to this mural commencing and obtained their blessing and permission to make use of photographs of their younger folks (Jacie and Kacia King).”
“These kids are the rising technology of Larrakia folks and signify their future. And our artist has carried out an unimaginable job of capturing this.”
Travelodge Resort Darwin was the one lodge to take part on this 12 months’s competition, which noticed 30 artists create 20 vibrant murals throughout the town.
