Scandic has recently entered into two long-term lease agreements with property owner JV Nordväst Fastighet AB to acquire two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, boasting a combined total of 199 rooms. Both establishments will undergo extensive renovations to align with Scandic’s modern brand before their projected opening in the first half of 2026.
There is a strong interest in the Scandic Go brand, prompting the company to ramp up hotel developments under this new name in 2024. Notably, in July, Scandic announced plans for two new hotels in Gothenburg and Umeå. With the addition of the two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, the Scandic Go pipeline now includes six hotels totaling 851 rooms across Sweden and Finland.
By acquiring existing hotels or repurposing office spaces in areas where its market presence in the economy segment is limited, Scandic aims to expedite the rollout of Scandic Go hotels. The new hotels are existing establishments that Scandic will take over, strategically located in regions where demand from both business and leisure travelers is anticipated to rise.
