The StandardX brand is expanding its horizons with the launch of The StandardX in Bangkok’s Phra Arthit area. After making its debut earlier this year in Melbourne’s Fitzroy neighborhood, this second location immerses itself in Bangkok’s vibrant art scene, featuring a rotating art gallery amidst its 62 guest rooms and two lively dining options.
At its essence, The StandardX brand challenges the status quo while capturing the spirit of travel through unique style. As the adventurous and playful sibling of The Standard brand, The StandardX offers intentionally minimalist accommodations, cultural experiences, and attentive hospitality. Guests are encouraged to engage with the local environment, uncovering its hidden treasures. The brand strategically selects culturally rich and often unexpected locations in major cities, providing visitors with access to the local art, fashion, and music scenes.
Located in Bangkok’s old town along the Chao Phraya River, The StandardX, Bangkok is near Silapakorn University, the city’s leading arts institution. The hotel is surrounded by a creative community filled with cafés, bars, restaurants, and a dynamic music scene. To enhance this artistic ambiance, The StandardX hosts the 10 10 Art Gallery, featuring both visiting and permanent collections from recognized local artists, starting with works by Gongkan and MRKREME. Both artists have been commissioned to beautify The StandardX’s streetside and riverside façades with their striking artwork. Additionally, an artist-in-residence program will cultivate emerging talent, offering workshops, events, and discussions that foster creative exchanges between guests and locals.
The design of The StandardX, Bangkok is a collaborative effort between The StandardX’s in-house team and Studio Freehand, alongside Porntip “Mook” Attakanwong of ATT19. Guest rooms range from 30 to 46 square meters across four categories, including the intimate Cozy King and Cozy Twin, as well as the King on the River and the spacious King of Kings. Each room combines the raw, vibrant essence of Bangkok with the modern comforts expected by discerning travelers.
Like its Melbourne sibling, The StandardX, Bangkok will feature standout dining options: BANG, an all-day Thai restaurant on the ground floor that offers a daring twist on beloved Thai dishes using local ingredients. Signature dishes include Grilled Chicken (Gor Lae) with Roti, Pong-Neng Fried Mussels, and Som Tum Chao Phraya.
Next to BANG is The Box, a retail concept store showcasing a selection of curated essentials, snacks, beverages, and local goods. In line with The StandardX’s dedication to sustainability and community support, the hotel collaborates with local growers in Pua District, Nan Province, to cultivate exceptional coffee varieties served throughout the property. This partnership not only ensures high quality but also generates jobs and provides sustainable income for future generations in Pua District.
Perched on the sixth floor, The Roof offers a cozy setting to enjoy robust Mexican flavors beside a pool, all while taking in views of the Chao Phraya River.
