The signing of a new hotel with 100 keys will enhance IHG’s luxury and lifestyle offerings in India, aligning with the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in prime leisure destinations across the country.
IHG® Hotels & Resorts, a leading name in the global hospitality sector, has signed a management agreement with Adyar Gate Hotels to develop the InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort, which is set to open in 2028. This resort will be a significant addition to IHG’s luxury collection in India and supports the group’s aim to enhance its lifestyle and luxury brands in key leisure markets. This marks the introduction of the InterContinental brand in Kodaikanal, making it the sixth location in India, following successful projects in Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
Situated at an elevation of 7,200 feet, Kodaikanal is renowned for its stunning scenery, pleasant temperatures, and rich colonial history, making it a favored retreat for both high-end leisure and corporate travelers in South India. Often referred to as the “Princess of Hills,” Kodaikanal continues to attract an increasing number of visitors each year from Tamil Nadu and neighboring states such as Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The destination’s appeal stems not just from its breathtaking landscapes but also from the outdoor adventures it offers, including trekking and boating, thanks to its consistently agreeable climate.
Once operational, the InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort will offer 100 guest rooms, including cottages, along with a range of luxurious amenities tailored for both leisure and business travelers. The resort will feature five dining venues: All Day Dining, a Specialty Restaurant, Lobby Lounge, Pool Bar, and InterContinental Club Lounge, providing an exceptional culinary experience for all patrons. To help guests unwind, the resort will have a swimming pool, fitness center, and spa. Additionally, the InterContinental Kodaikanal Resort will host two meeting spaces, including a ballroom designed for social events and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) opportunities.
