Belmond is excited to introduce the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, marking the premiere luxury sleeper train in England and Wales, set to launch in July 2025.
As a new milestone in majestic slow travel, this innovative train harmonizes the rich history of rail travel with modern British cuisine, culture, and style.
Guests can anticipate exquisite dining experiences curated by the acclaimed Chef Simon Rogan, known for his forward-thinking culinary techniques and the outstanding quality of his eight Michelin-starred and two Michelin Green-starred establishments worldwide; notably, his flagship restaurant, L’Enclume, represents his culinary artistry. A wellness suite on board offers a range of therapies aimed at relaxation and rejuvenation, while an engaging cultural program invites guests to explore the true spirit of Britain, granting exclusive access to some of the nation’s hidden treasures.
The Britannic Explorer will commence journeys from London, featuring three-night trips with the option of three captivating routes through the stunning landscapes of Cornwall, The Lake District, and Wales. During the day, guided excursions will highlight the unique culture, beauty, and history of each destination, while evenings can be spent socializing in the train’s botanically-themed Bar, situated in the Observation Car, which will serve as the social hub of the Britannic Explorer.
The itineraries have been carefully crafted, allowing travelers to merge two regional routes into one adventure: The Cornwall and Lake District journeys operate from Friday to Monday, whereas the Wales route runs from Monday to Thursday.
CRAFTING A WINDOW ON BRITAIN IN MOTION
Setting a new benchmark in luxury design, the esteemed London-based studio, Albion Nord, has developed serene and stylish interiors infused with a distinctively British charm unique to the train. The design features a color palette inspired by the stunning natural surroundings visible through expansive picture windows, along with heritage motifs and whimsical elements that create a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere.
The Britannic Explorer boasts 18 cabins, each merging sophistication with comfort. With three Grand Suites and 15 Suites, these spaces have been meticulously designed in Britain to ensure that the journey is as remarkable as the destinations. Inspired by the sweeping views of Britain’s rugged coastlines and lush landscapes, every moment on board offers a visual delight, whether guests are enjoying the solitude of their cabin, relaxing in the onboard spa, or indulging in the Bar and dining car.
A NEW VISION OF BRITISH GASTRONOMY
The culinary journey aboard the Britannic Explorer will be overseen by award-winning restaurateur Simon Rogan, a pioneer in the farm-to-fork movement in Britain. Rogan’s seasonal menus will spotlight locally sourced, sustainable ingredients, showcasing the diverse regional flavors of Britain. Each of the three routes will include custom afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner menus that emphasize local delicacies, ensuring each dining experience authentically represents Britain’s culinary heritage.
The Bar, inspired by Victorian apothecaries, offers a stylish and welcoming setting where guests can enjoy a selection of innovative, botanically themed cocktails, along with a curated array of artisan gins and craft beers, highlighting the best of the UK’s independent distilleries and breweries.
A CULTURAL ADVENTURE THROUGH CINEMATIC LANDSCAPES
The Britannic Explorer provides a unique perspective on England and Wales, featuring exclusive journeys and privileged access to some of the regions’ most beloved landmarks. Guests will have the opportunity to explore world-class galleries, breathtaking national parks, and historically significant cities in an enriching and immersive fashion. Highlights include a private tour and dinner at the celebrated Hauser & Wirth Somerset and its on-site restaurant, Da Costa, as well as guided hikes through the picturesque landscapes of Wales, wild swimming opportunities in the breathtaking Lake District, and visits to the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Cornwall.
