On Saturday, November 23, 2024, The Savoy will unveil its highly anticipated new dining venue, Gallery, which has just shared an exclusive preview of its carefully curated menu options.
Revered as ‘the king of chefs and the chef of kings’, Auguste Escoffier was the chef at The Savoy when it first opened 135 years ago, and his influence has shaped the operation of professional kitchens worldwide. When Gallery opens on November 23, its all-day dining menu will pay homage to this culinary pioneer, featuring an array of grazing and substantial sharing plates that showcase classic recipes with a contemporary twist.
Let the Grazing Begin
The dining journey at Gallery starts with an exquisite selection of starters, including Sole tacos that marry delicate white fish with Bacchus grape and hispi cabbage, inspired by Escoffier’s renowned Sole Veronique. Other highlights include Cornish lobster rolls paired with Marie Rose sauce and zesty butterfly sorrel, as well as a Savoy-style croque monsieur enriched with umami truffle.
Got the Munchies?
For those seeking more substantial fare, the menu features grilled Cornish tuna tataki complemented by Isle of Wight tomatoes and yuzu soy, alongside coronated Orkney scallops with heritage cauliflower and shallot pakora. Bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to the mix, there’s homemade linguine crowned with Devon crab and Mylor prawns, as well as a vegan lentil bolognese served with roasted Riverford squash and alfalfa sprouts.
Dishes to Relish
For the main course, guests can enjoy a tomahawk steak or a charcoal-grilled organic chicken tikka pie, both featuring the finest meats sourced from across the British Isles. The iconic Arnold Bennett omelette, originally created at the hotel for the novelist in 1929, will also be available. A selection of stone-baked pizzas—crafted with 24-hour hand-stretched dough—ranges from the classic Margherita to a lavish smoked Scottish salmon topped with avocado and caviar. Additionally, diners can choose from an assortment of salads, including the beloved classic Caesar with chicken or Cornish lobster.
Don’t Skimp on Dessert
Guests will be captivated by towering ice cream sundaes adorned with crushed cookies, crystallized Yuzu, frozen berries, and drizzled sauce, all prepared with a touch of Savoy’s signature theatrics at the table. Sharing dessert will be a delight with generously sized Kent apple crumbles and mille-feuille filled with Tahitian vanilla Chantilly cream and salted caramel on offer.
A Timeless Afternoon Tea
No visit to The Savoy would be complete without indulging in the legendary afternoon tea, a cherished tradition upheld for over a century at the hotel. Gallery will once again feature this delightful experience, with executive pastry chef Nicolas Houchet and his team creating pastries that are true works of art, alongside the iconic Savoy scones.
As Day Transitions to Night
Open until late, Gallery’s bar will present an enticing cocktail menu to complement the dining experience, as well as serve those looking for an after-dinner drink. Notable creations include a British Negroni made with Somerset brandy, Asterly Brothers’ sweet vermouth, and bitters, and a New Fashioned, a rich blend of Fielden Rye whisky, discarded banana, and PX. The bar will also offer a selection of Petrossian caviar, served with organic Burford eggs, chives, sour cream, and blinis.
Gallery will officially open on Saturday, November 23, alongside The Florist at The Savoy, which will offer seasonal bouquets along with a thoughtfully curated selection of gifts, and Scoff, the hotel’s dedicated scone shop that will feature surprising new takes on the classic British treat.
