Choice Hotels EMEA has partnered with Faranda Hotels & Resorts to establish a long-term strategic agreement, aiming to enhance Choice Hotels’ portfolio in Spain by adding eight new properties with a total of over 700 rooms.
All properties will be integrated into the Ascend Hotel Collection, with the first six now available for bookings. This includes the flagship Faranda Hotel Rias Altas, Ascend Hotel Collection in A Coruña, which is celebrated for being the only hotel directly on the beachfront. It has recently undergone extensive renovations to provide guests with new offerings, including a pizzeria and a water sports club.
Two additional hotels are in the process of a complete refurbishment and are set to debut in Summer 2025. Choice Hotels is actively supporting Faranda in renovating and updating these properties to meet the brand standards of the Ascend Hotel Collection.
The new hotels will be located throughout Spain’s northern regions of Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria, in key cities such as A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Gijón, and Santander. The properties include: Faranda Rias Altas, Faranda Marsol Candás, Faranda Hotel Pathos Gijón, Faranda Alisas Santander, Faranda Los Tilos, Faranda Torrelavega, Faranda Las Lomas, and Hotel Ciudad Ponferrada.

Faranda Hotels & Resorts will oversee the conversion and management of these new hotels in partnership with Choice Hotels, leveraging Choice’s advanced franchise network, which includes innovative cloud-based solutions like the choiceEDGE guest reservation platform. This platform aids franchisees in managing room rates, distribution channels, and inventory efficiently. Moreover, Choice University, the most awarded training program in the hospitality sector, provides tailored and continuously evolving educational resources.
All new properties will participate in the global, award-winning rewards program, Choice Privileges, allowing over 66 million members to earn and redeem points at hotels in 46 countries and territories worldwide.
This new agreement in Spain expands the existing partnership between Choice Hotels and Faranda Hotels in South America, now totaling 22 hotels with nearly 2,400 rooms, as both companies seek to grow further in Spain.
